Old Friends

ORDS OF GOODBYE

I have just returned from a funeral...I almost think my sad day on the 2nd was due to a dear old family friends passing on the 1st.  Maybe it was my mom's tears I was crying over her friends exit from the Earthy life..Now they know the secrets of the universe together if there are any secrets to know...

My mom's best friend for life, passed on Tuesday the 1st. They didn't call me till last night at 8 pm, but thankfully I was able to make her funeral at 10 am this morning. She lived in a neighboring town about 15 miles away..

Nettie and my Mom met back in the late 60's when they both went to work at BF Goodrich mfg making V-belts.  All done in China now I presume...It was hard hot factory work...but these 2 widows were both raising families alone so they did it for the money. Fortunately for them BF Goodrich had moved south from Ohio to get out from under unions and they treated their workforce with respect and took care of them.  My mom and Nettie retired the same year and they both had excellent retirement medical and a pension to boot.  You just don't get that these days.

Sadly the company closed that operation some time ago Im not really sure when but the parking lot now has cracks with weeds coming up but back in the 60,70, 80, 90's, they provided many people with a good job...the kind of job you could make a decent living doing.  My mom worked from 7am to 3pm for 17 yrs.

Nettie was one yr and one day older than Mom, she was born Oct 5, 1923. She raised 2 sons after her husband died and she was laid to rest by his side today.

Im so glad I was able to go visit Nettie in January, I think it was, we had not heard from her in a while and what happened is she had a couple bad falls so she moved in with her son and his wife...we did not
know how to contact them and didn't know where they lived.

She would call my mom but Mom had no caller ID and Nettie told me when I asked... "I don't know the number." I understood that because my mom had no idea what her number was either at that point...so they just had their conversations and it was always good to speak to her and mom would talk about it all day long.

So I tracked her down to let her know Mom had passed away she was very sad but took the news in stride, as she was herself dealing with similar issues Mom had been dealing with. I went to her old home where she had lived so many years where she raised her family and grew her flowers, and parked her little red car that she drove for so many years...and someone just happened to be there and they gave me the address where she was living and I went over and we had a good long hour visit..

Back in the day we did so many things together me, mom and Nettie, we were on a bowling league for many years every Wednesday night and she and Mom traveled together back when they still drove their cars and were vibrant seniors with full lives to live!

Life is so very short...Nettie had a big family her 2 sons  had more than one marriage over the years so lots of grandchildren and great grand children and she was a member of the same church her whole life so she had lots of friends...The group today was mostly old friends and family  and I was happy to be there and say goodbye to our dear friend Nettie.

Rest in Peace dear friend.💙
-----------------------------------------
I had a  problem with my wireless printer, thanks to Microsoft office making a change to my hard drive and allowing "One Note" to be my default print software...duh who knew...Anyway I tried to do a system restore back to Aug 25th before I had used One Note to save a article I had copied online...I really DO despise Win 10.  Horrible.  So the system was restored to Today...GRRR You have to create your own restore points...and yet it never gave me a calendar to use...so I tried and it still won't recognize my wireless printer.  It took me forever to figure out how to make the printer work!! I got along much better with my XP which I loved and understood..
This operating system is like a toy to me, a cheap imitation of what a good hard working operating system used to be.
Oh well once the powers that be made Win XP redundant I had no choice but to move on, from the cradle to the grave.
I like the old way better...now we have second hand goods that will not stand the test of time and are extremely over complicated thanks to Cell phone technology ooozing into everything..APP CRAP is how I describe it.
I looked up all the instructions on how to do the install followed it to the letter and NO go. I may have to completely uninstall the printer and try again which could Backfire in my face so I probably wont..

That's my Friday more hard times will come so I have to prop myself up and keep trying.

BUT one ray of light entered my gloomy disposition today it arrived in the mailbox, a blogger friend sent me this: Now I look much better  can't even see the scrowl on my face!!
It's very nice she made it for me! Awesome. I like the way the pattern resembles a the Corona Virus! It's perfect!!
