ell yesterday I made a boo boo on the post hope it came up on your feed.
I was trying to save and continue later and I hit publish instead of save, there is no going back from that except to revert to draft so I did...anyways I have been doing the posts a day ahead so they can post early...sometimes I work on them a bit at the time.
Today so far I've had to change clothes 3 times already! So hot and humid. I have an issue with my headlights...they come on and then they GO OFF! Yes try driving down a dark country road with no headlights...It could be one of a few things in reality I need new headlight holders..the old plastic is so brittle the little screw things that hold the bulb in place is no longer working it was jiggling..and it appears when I did them last I put in a higher rated bulb...
I went down and got the lowest rated bulb suggested for the van and replaced it, I also coated the little wire with some liquid electric tape to seal any cracks in that...I also need new electrical connectors, I may look into doing that when the weather cools off...until then I hope my little interventions will help.
I forgot to eat and that was part of the trouble, and then I just go so hot I feel like a noodle now...Thankfully I did all I plan to today..and it' almost 1 pm. During normal weather I finish up my day about 3 or 4 pm...and then it's time to relax inside..
we have some real lunatics in this country who would go to all the trouble to try and force their way into a Walmart with no mask...then yell obscenities to the workers and other shoppers when they kicked them out Banned for a year!
And for what? They are complete jackasses for sure.
I say fine don't wear a mask and STAY HOME. I still have no plans of going to Walmart not because they are not trying but because of people like that man...I told a man to back up 6 ft on Friday when I had to go into Foodlion for some food items I hadn't even swiped my card and he pushed himself right in front of the card reader...So I turned to him and I said "back up 6ft please..." and he did..if he had been one of those nut cases he may have pulled out a pistol and shot me death...you never know but still we all have to be held accountable.
I always say I will not comply with a gunman, he will shot me, I may survive or if I dip and duck he may miss...I would never to forced by gunpoint or knife or any other means I will fight back I may not win but in this case I will not do as told. I've watched some of those Mystery cases where a car drives up a man jumps out with a gun or knife, and says get in the car.
NO way Im immediately screaming and going to run around to the other side of the car... if the door is open and the engine is on IM jumping in and taking off!! I took a class in Aikido at Windstar Foundation under the guidance of Tom Crum. Windstar was a foundation formed my John Denver out in Snowmass CO. Tom Crum was a dear friend to John and he held many workshops there, and I think he was CEO of Windstar Foundation.
At one time My sister was one of the chef's there and she arranged for me to take a workshop. Windstar was a sustainable living think tank..and they grew and prepared all the food we workshoppers ate on site. We stayed in these big tents and slept on homemade bunks...there was solar showers and composting toilets and a sweat lodge, and we had to work while there too!
The land had an old ranch house that was original to the property when John purchased it...nearly 300 acres I think...So the Ranch house is where the staff had offices the kitchen was in there and a big dining hall where we all took our meals at the same time and other rooms converted to usable space.
I wanted to work in the garden, and the kitchen with my sis...but as it turned out...One day after we were finished with our class I spotted Tom in the main lecture hall staring up at the ceiling...this room had been the old ranch living room...and he had boxes of ceiling tile sitting around and so of course I asked...
"what you doing?"
"someone donated all these ceiling tile and I want to put in on this old stained ceiling but I don't even know where to start."
"Oh it's not hard, I've done many rooms with these tiles in my house...all you need is some construction adhesive, and a hand held staple gun...some tape measures a straight edge and some utility knives to cut it."
OH MY HEAVENS his eye lite up and there was my assignment to help him put up the ceiling...and we did!! Ladders and tools came out someone was sent to the hardware store and with some extra hands in 3 days time we were done...I heard from sis that the old ceiling we did back in 1983 was still in the house when it was demolished not that long ago...the land was sold but it was in the purchase deal that 93 acres would remain undeveloped and the rest will probably become second homes to Millionaires.
So anyways I took a week of Aikido classes, the premise is to not pull away but to place your opponent off balance and off center, step out of the way.. So if someone rushes at you they expect you to push or pull back but don't, just step out of the way...and that will generally put them on their knees so you can have some time to get away..
Tom's message is you can use the rules of Aikido in the workplace too and if you watch this video you may learn a few good points that will help you somewhere along the way..it really works.
