Eggs and other stinky things...

HOSE pollution is dirtier?

Rich man poor man?  I've made these comparisons before in my mind.  Another song by John Denver comes to pass and he asks , is "a Hero's Blood More Righteous Than A Hobo's Sip of Wine?"

Well what do you think...so my point is this; a recent disagreement about the carbon footprint we each leave as we walk thru our life led me to do some deep thinking and some fact checking...So someone made a statement about this person who "drove around in a old model car polluting the air, to go see ONE duck" Im paraphrasing of course..but that statement really stuck in my craw.

To me what this particular individual was saying is it's okay for HIM to drive around because he is probably in a Newer model car...his pollution is more righteous? Why---> because his bank account has more Zero's on the end of it?

I happened to know this particular fellow has flown all over the world to be led around to see birds.  I stated if you fly to see a bird you are really polluting!
So the fellow in the old car made a trip to see one  bird, yet in the mind of this stuffy birder this man's means were not good enough he polluted the air with his old car..

The more I thought about it the more bigotry came to mind.  So in a flurry of well put words the affluent individual proceeds to enlighten me on how "his" money being spent to fly to 3rd world countries was good for the world it gives income to the "poor" who would house, feed, and led him thru the jungle while he spent his precious time and money  with them... in his mind this was somehow so much more important than the guy who drove his old car to see one duck.

So I did what I always do...I researched to see if the numbers supported his theory of how he was actually saving the world while the poor guy with the old car was only polluting it..

I found out that it would take almost an entire life human lifetime to drive a car and use the same  amount of fuel that one  10 hr plane flight uses, and even if you add in the income of the 3rd world meals, huts, and leader fees he would pay he still is also going to be riding in a car once he arrives to that 3rd world country to and from the airport, and on each birding excursion they go on, and I bet in an old beat up something or other, I don't think 3rd dwellers have the latest model of fuel efficient vehicle... Some may have battery powered vehicles for short trips I just don't know..but Im thinking 4 wheel drive is probably necessary.

So he is not only doing what the old guy who saw a duck did he is adding all that jet fuel to the formula... that just didn't add up to favor his argument. Numbers just do not lie.  And since he does such a thing almost yearly this old guy with the old car could go see a duck a day for 100 yrs and come no where close the fuel burnt by this world traveler...so I called him out on it he got pisst end of story.

How is supporting ecotourism by flying saving the world? It is not...maybe it sends the right idea if you save it we will come see it but do the means exact the cure?   I think not we save the rain forest yet we burn 80,000 gallons of jet fuel on ONE round trip flight..and we will pay the Hut Owner  as little as possible, which will guarantee it will remain a 3rd world country.

So I feel that one's mans trash is just as dirty as anyone else's...Eco pollution is still pollution you make more change in those regions by trying to not support the regimes with your dollars on the daily..don't buy products with Palm oil, look for  alternatives,  and helping to stop the deforestation of the Rain Forest the change has to come at the political level...don't support US companies that exploit these nations... and do support politicians here at home who support humanitarian aid to  3rd world nations with medicine, education, and investing in clean energy here at home and then pass that technology around. Do not support a USA that won't help it's neighbors.
Investing in businesses that employs local people helps the entire community.  Yes eco tourism is a good thing, but when you stand back and look at the big picture...how is pumping thousands of gallons of jet fuel exhaust into the atmosphere helping the problem as a whole?? We destroy the air while we save the trees?

Now the egg story..

Once upon a time my sister and I were on a road trip together...we were in Utah.  Im an early riser most of the time...said sister is not...she can sleep through a tornado if need be.  I exited our shared motel room and walked down to the office to bring back the coffee,  toast, cereal, donuts, etc they had out in their little "free" breakfast bar.  Each room opened out to an outdoor area with a table and some chairs so I ate out there  while sister slept.

We had a big day of sightseeing planned for one of the Utah parks later so when I saw the breakfast bar included boiled eggs, I grabbed up about 6 of them planning to make egg salad for our lunch later...we had a cooler along with sandwich makings in it some mayo pickles etc..so I thought this would make an excellent addition to lunch for us.

Meanwhile grumpy gets up ...*lol* she comes out and barely speaks to me, hair all a mess...she mumbles something about this being a vacation and she enjoys sleeping in...I had said nothing except good morning and I got us some breakfast..she prepares her coffee and then she grabs up one of the boiled eggs...and goes inside..

there is a kitchenette in each room...Im kinda thinking-- ok, no problem I can make egg salad with 5 eggs, that cool...

Next thing I hear the microwave going and then I hear this explosion.....BANG  so I am concerned, yet....I wait-----> she comes out and goes to the Boiled egg pile and grabs up a second one, I ask about "that loud bang"...
"I left the egg in too long and it exploded,"

What? So I explain how an egg is going to explode in a microwave, it can't be done that way...for any amount of time when you open the door it will explode...

She leaves with a second egg...in a minute I hear BANGGGG and some cursing...she comes out and when she reaches for the 3rd egg I'm like
"NO" and I actually put my hand over the remaining eggs..."these are for our lunch if you want to blow up more eggs you go get them yourself."  Then I suggested she heat up a cup of water then sink the  boiled egg in it and let it sit to warm it up...LOL

I helped her clean  up the mess!! And What a mess it was shells egg and just the stink all over...
SO yesterday my sister's friend was trying out this Egg cooker she bought...you put it in the microwave, and my sis tells her right away "NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT"...and about that time BANGGGGGG

LOL...some lessons we only need to learn once, usually the ones we learn the hard way are the ones best learned, how do you think I knew about the egg exploding...ah ha!
