Gunslingers..

ERE ARE THEY WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

I've been in need of many things in my life...but never had the use for guns.   I actually inherited a 22 rifle, but my son took it so I no longer have it.  Today of all things I was flagging people over on the side of the road begging for anyone..."do you have a gun?"
*sigh*

What a morning I had...and I don't think I will soon forget it, Seems death is surrounding me anymore...I can't escape it.  Every time I think my soul is healing from the grief and tragedy of death then along it comes to fill my life with it's horribleness...

I sat on the side of the road today trying to comfort a young buck he had 2 little buds just forming on his head where proud horn would have sat if he had lived.  I loaded up my trash today in the van to go drop it off then do a little food shopping, and so I left home at 10 am.  At what I guess was 9:50 am 2 dogs brought a young deer down by the side of the road and attempted to kill him pull him apart and that is the scene I happed upon not 5 mins after leaving my home...I saw a bloody white dog and a black dog wrestling something and it was moving...so I stopped and grabbed my hiking pole I keep it on the seat next to me.

I chased off the dogs and there was a helpless deer with a broken hind leg, twisted in some way I couldn't even figure out and they had ripped out the soft place between his hind legs, the poor thing was still alive.  I didn't know what to do...grabbed my phone it was Nearly Dead! I had no idea who to call...

The first car that I flagged down had 2 women they had no gun but they helped me get some numbers to call ,the Police Dept.  I called and they told me they would get an officer as soon as possible...the ladies left...then I recalled I had saved the number of the wildlife rehab when I took the baby squirrel...so I called her she gave me the phone number of the game warden.  I called they would send someone..

10 mins, 15 mins, and I sat by the deer gently patting his head and speaking to him..  "don't be afraid I won't leave you so help me GOD I won't," and I wouldn't.   I flagged another car no gun, and another NO GUN...20 mins, 30 mins, 35 mins and I was bawling, I had blood on my hands,  I had covered up his wounds to keep the bot flies off...and the poor deer struggled to breath I wanted one of 3 things:
PLEASE GET UP AN BE HEALED A MIRACLE....that didn't happen...
I BEGGED FOR THAT BREATH TO BE THE LAST ONE...that didn't happen...
"OH PLEASE DO YOU HAVE A GUN", I begged to the next man I flagged..."YES"
He got out reached into his back pocket and out came a little pistol...I said "Please put this lovely creature out of this misery"...

And As I hid my face in my hands the crack of the pistol made me jump out of my skin...
And I cried like a baby and went to stroke the deer and say a few words for his life the beautiful life he had and the tragic way he died...I told him he was loved and his life had meaning...I think that is the most important thing to know your life meant something....

Then came the deputy and the game warden at the same time they thanked me, and the guy who shot the deer, and drove away...then the guy drove away and it was just me and the deer...I couldn't breath and I broke to pieces my mind just let go...and I couldn't even drive my van...I just sat there and wailed...I kept asking why why why why ....I got no answer.

The beauty of the deer was marked by the brutal way his life ended...So I went  home got a shovel and came back and mounded dirt over his body...I did the best I could sandy soil is easy to dig...some large stones  at a  culvert nearby I hope will keep the scavengers away...I could not leave him there on the side of the road like he meant nothing more than the beer can laying nearby.

Today I was glad I found a man with a gun...
And I lost my last bit of faith...

Save the USPS dismantle the EC!

ENT ON MY SECOND TRIP to town...

Survived it, but did not enjoy it! I went early and did beat the crowds and went right through the check out no waiting in line...that part was good...but I still see a lot of empty shelves.

I did not go back to IGA will boycott them since he is not enforcing masks, I've known that manager since he was a high school bag boy, and I've supported his store for decades but no more...
I went to Food Lion everyone I saw in and out of the store was masked this to me means they are doing what they can to make a difference. part of a solution.

Back home putting things away was tiring to say the least. I got myself a slice of watermelon...oh it was so sweet wished I had purchased an entire melon, but normally I'm into it in the beginning, then my interest wanes and with my fridge not cooling all that well I could see it going bad before I eat the whole thing so the one slice was perfect.

My step grand dad used to grow water melon and strawberries for market, back in the day he used two big draft horses to do the plowing and he planted by hand and harvested by hand even us kids were put into the field to pick melons and berries.  We didn't get paid but we got 2 squares and a feather bed to sleep in!!

I  have 2 small ones growing  in the garden pots but who knows if it's going to become ripe melons this late, I didn't get them in early...right now it's like tennis balls or a little bit bigger. Grand pa Jess would surely chuckle at my attempt.

7 deer came into the field about an hour before dusk to eat the corn I spread out... does, yearling bucks in velvet, and the fawn so sweet...he was off grazing by himself, I hope the yearlings don't pick on him...he is much smaller. I've already gone out and put out more corn for them...I spread it around so hopefully the little one can get some too. This is thru the glass they can hear me moving around in the house so I have to be very quiet or they take off...

I watched the convention on PBS, some of it was hokey but hey it's tv, still I never watch a convention; this is watchable...I felt the diversity of the delegates told a huge story of how this is a party of the real people...doubt you will see the same if you  watch the Rep Convention which I won't be doing...why on Earth would I even consider doing that.  It would be like watching dirty snow melt, not  happening. I voted once for Ronald Reagan, and that was the end of my walk on the wrong side.

Trump of course comes up with stupid remarks, like Michelle Obama's speech was OLD....ok maybe hours old but not days old she spoke of his BS plot to destroy the US Mail...and paraphrased his "it is what it is" comment on how people are dying of the virus he ignored for 2 months

Im sure if I were to venture over to Facebook there will be many posts of his insane tweets I haven't looked but I can almost imagine him ranting about Crooked Hillary and the Senate Russian probe into Paul Manafort, and how he barely knew that guy...oh yeah then why did you pardon him; forgot that little tidbit?...he was basically a Russian Spy...but oh well he was what he was eh.. and how they are all out to get him and it's all fake news from the liberal media... and Bill Clinton was a child molester, and how Jimmy Carter is senile hit himself in the head with a hammer, and how Kerry is out of touch and Colin Powell is a traitor and how Joe is too old for the job...wait there is only 3 yrs between them Trump will be 77 in 3 yrs so...if Biden is too old then so is Trump. I can just imagine it so I don't even need to read his BS to know it was spewed.  He is so predictable just fill in the blanks.

I'm looking forward to getting this election behind us, if he won't concede I hope 10 million protesters go up and drag his sorry carcass into the street. That's one march I would enjoy being a part of. This is why he has a fence around the White House...he has his little bunker full of junk food and and this direct link to Fox News to hide in. I hear 23 states are suing him.  LoL, I love it when he has to squirm.

The solidarity of the people of Belarus show us how a united front of people can make a difference, we have to want it, and we have to put it all on the line for it.  American's are kept down by poverty and debt.  They don't have time to protest they are too busy trying to keep their noses above water...to pay the rent, put food on the table, keep the kids and parents safe, and be super human's making the American Dream real on $8 bucks an hr while paying out outrageous car insurance because it's not regulated and is an outright scam...and they can't afford health insurance because Trump has done his best to destroy what Obama started, it could have been built on and been a good thing by now had the right person been put in the White House by the insane Electoral College, which is an institution whose time has COME to be dismantled!! Save the US postal Service Dismantle the Electoral College..it's time we get what we VOTED for.

Why is Voting day not on a Saturday, and why not over 2 days?  It's all to keep the minorities from voting...minorities can't get off work on a Tuesday to go vote.  It's all OLD out dated BS that we should Demand be changed or else!! I will be elbowing my way past all the Trump humpers to make my way into my Poll place at the elementary school on NOV 3rd Don't care if I have to get out of my death bed I will be there.

I had an Obama/Biden bumper sticker on my van, and my son had borrowed the van to drive when his car was out of commission....and he got pulled over like 5 times by cops so he scrubbed off the bumper sticker and no more cops stops.

I really didn't believe him at the time....but now I do.

I live in a sea of RED and really wish I could move! I've looked online at property values...If I sell my place I would need another $200,000 to buy a similar place in one of the Blue States!  This is the problem in a nutshell....like where my sisters live, even a ramshackle run down old place is 3 times the value of my home here!!

Well more ramblings from what's left of my brain hopefully I can get back to center before much longer, the weather is changing, and maybe it will put me in a better place my world is pretty small right now...I have my birds, deer, and the news and that's about it! I said two words to one person today...

and that was "thank you."

Doomsday Prepping?

hat happened to the canned food inventory
On the shelves of the stores I shop in?  I have not been in Walmart since March 22 when I had to get my one prescription refill.  I don't know exactly how I will manage it the next time maybe they have curbside pick up I have no clue.  My reason for not going to WM is this...when everything closed up I realized if the smaller grocery stores in my area close up due to no one shopping there all we will have is WM. and that creates a major problem when you have only one choice!  A small town not too far away had the one Walmart close down after they had closed down all the competition so now it's a food desert!!

Since I've decided to continue with my doomsday prep today I made a run for canned goods at my local IGA.  It's not hoarding when it's 2 cans of green beans, and 2 of carrots, and 2 of peas, is it? My little pantry is only a free standing cabinet it has 3 shelves inside of about a foot square each I can stack cans 3 high tho and I do...the thing I really don't want to run out of is coffee so I bought 3 containers of that.  I noticed the shelves were full of toilet paper! LoL..sure can't eat that!

So I bought one pack...it has 12 rolls no smaller quantities were available.  I had one conversation both of us masked like the lone ranger, but I think we got to within 3 ft of each other...she wants US to pray for it all to end..I'm thinking accept we are doomed...So there is room for movement on either end of that ideology.

I was at 6:30 this morning with my walking shoes on, walking stick in hand, and down the sandy road for my walk. It takes me 45 minutes to go to the "stop sign" and back...when I go "around the block" it's also a sandy dirt road but only a 32 minute loop around.  I have  sandy dirt road in every direction of my home.  There is at least 4 barking dogs I will encounter if I go around the block, I don't think the owners will appreciate my 6:30 am wake up call so if I  walk  before 8am I go to the stop sign.  Not one car this morning...not even the jerk newest neighbor who leaves for work every day at 7 but this morning he didn't leave till 7:30!

He and I do not see eye to eye.  He has lived  here since August of 2019..I have owned this property for 44 yrs!  Story goes like this:  Old neighbor, who had lived there long time, I sold 2 acres of my land to..when I had to accumulate  money to settle the divorce and keep this homestead in the family.  So that didn't sit well with me, it was bitter sweet. I had regrets, buyer promised me he only wanted the land for a wooded buffer for his own property...4 yrs later I went on an extended trip came back and he had logged the 2 acres it lay in ruins!! Then he stuck up a for sale sign and bam it was sold! His home, his 4 acres and my 2 acres.

So the new guy has no clue about this history of the 2 acres Im sure...he buys this tractor and starts pushing around debris and burning smokey piles of pine each day and it stinks and the smoke always seem to blow in my direction, a smokey reminder of a bad decision.  During an especially rainy month a large pool of water collected along my southern boundary with the dirt road and one night I heard this noise of machinery working at the end of my driveway.  I look out and see headlights of some sort of craft. It's pitch dark and rain is coming down!

Grabbed my flashlight and out the back door under my umbrella, got to the end of my driveway and there is the new guy on his shiny orange tractor scooping up huge piles of watery sand and pushing against the road edges, I screamed over the sound of the engine and the pounding rain "what the hell are you doing, get the hell outta there."  He responded but for the life of me, I couldn't hear what he said but he left...he didn't turn off the engine and try to converse with me, he high tailed it as we say here.

So I told my son, who was living with me at the time but was at work when that happened...and a couple days later I'm not home but my son is he hears a motor running he goes out and sees same guy now digging these big trenches from the road onto my property! Like he is trying to drain this big mud puddle...NOW we all know this mud puddle comes and goes it has never been an issue...BUT story is his daughter got stuck in this puddle.  Sooooo....comes with the territory you don't wanna get stuck  then don't buy a home on a DIRT ROAD!

two things, ok 4 things...
1. He has no clue where the water, phone, and electric lines are buried and they are right in the area he was digging.

2. In this State we have a "call before you dig" regulation or you're gonna pay for any damage you do.
3. This is a county maintained road.
4. WTF? let me go down with a tractor and do some work at the end of his driveway and see if he thinks thats a good idea!! ?????

So my son says,  WTF "Get the hell outta here, you are not supposed to be doing this," and the guy raises the bucket of his machine and comes at my son with it, My son keeps a baseball bat in his car...and he grabbed it...came out and told guy "I told you to leave" and the guy left after some choice not so nice words, and my son called the sheriff's office.  Deputy came out and heard my son's side of the story and then drove down the road  to speak to the new guy...told new guy his tractor is not to be used outside his OWN property...and then came back and told my son BASEBALL BAT should stay in your car..

OK problem solved? NOPE ...so then this man who drives a very noisy old Mustang that he envisions as some type hot rod and  has illegal mufflers on it, comes past my house every morning on his way to work and as he gets to my driveway he puts the car in neutral and races the motor very loudly it sounds like a sonic blast and creates this backfire...At first I didn't know what it was then I figured it out... he is harassing me!!

So one morning I was out putting a letter in my mailbox when he drove by and I gave him a look of daggers and glared at him till he was out of sight...and since then no more motor racing.  My next move was going to be to meet him  at the end of my driveway with my video camera and then go to see sheriff again.
NOW he has a for sale sign at the end of his driveway I can only hope if he sells it won't be someone Worse than he is..and that is a very real possibility
I am a blue dot in a red sea politically speaking.

Last night I watched as my resident doe came to snack on the grass in my field and then bedded herself down she is soooo cute I wanted to run out and join her hug her neck and just cuddle with her but of course you know how that would have played out..then after I returned from my "doomsday" shopping trip she was in my back yard snacking grape vine leaves ...I didn't even know deer would eat those leaves.  I sure need some help trying to keep those vines in check.

SO I don't know how this pandemic is going to pan out but I know there is not one cure for one virus since the beginning of time so I don't see a cure happening, and if Trump wins the election we can all kiss it goodbye, as his policy and plan is to hide the truth and honestly I think  he would purposely tell people to take some " off the wall cure" that he knows is deadly!! That's what an insane monster he is.  And now the news is the antibodies don't protect us, we can be infected over and over.

Hot predicted again for today heat index will be 103...so Im finished with my outside chores did my plant watering after my walk and I have some mowing I need to do but maybe tomorrow on that.

I see I have 3 hummingbirds now one must be the product of this years nesting season...My mom loved to watch hummingbirds. *sigh*

My fridge made ice, Hallelujah, because I was ready to hit the "buy it now" on a new one via the Lowes website.  They have free delivery and for an additional $30 bucks they take the old one away.  My fridge is a hand me down and it's quite old...it's a 21 cf Frigidaire brand. and really I don't need one this big, but free is free.  I would like to go all the way down to 13 cf..but they don't have one in white for that size I have to go up to 18cf.  So I added it to my wish list on Lowes so if mine dies outright I will just have to buy new...I thought of buying used but then if it goes kerplunk then what? There is no reputable repair service here.

SO I pulled the fridge out vacuumed all the dust off the coils and maybe that helped? All I know is now the water finally froze and everything seems okay *knock on good Wood* Just got a text from my cell phone provider..
"we are now a member of the T-Mobile team"

Hip Hip omg...and the dogs ran out the doggie door they hate text messages.
